Glass seeks peace at Poland’s Rezydent Sopot

UPON entering Rezydent Sopot, I find myself in the high-ceiling lobby soaked in warm hues. The interiors are seaside-inspired, wave with accents winding across the carpets and an irregular shape of the golden front desk resembling a sand dune.

The Lobby

The breakfast buffet tempts us with a selection of pickled herrings, a traditional dish in this part of Poland. On our way, we gaze at a dazzling chandelier, one of the many pieces in the hotel designed by Edyta Baranska, comprising dozens of colourful glass domes softly reflecting the morning sun.

Rezydent is located at the heart of Sopot, next to the town’s most popular promenade, Monciak, filled with small boutiques and buzzing restaurants. It takes us minutes to reach Sopot’s crown jewel – the longest pier on the Baltic Sea, stretching majestically into the waters.

After our seaside walk, we head back to the hotel for our spa treatments. From a long list of Prana Spa massages, I opt for Touch of Orient, a combination of Balinese, Lomi Lomi and hot rock techniques, which leaves my body lighter and muscles deeply relaxed.

Deluxe Twin Room

The hotel’s restaurant, Grino, is known among locals for its modern style of dining and casual yet sophisticated atmosphere. Our dinner is a delightful selection of local cheeses and fresh fish finished with a sizzling hot platter of tiger prawns, which arrives on a volcanic lava stone – a unique cooking signature for Grino.

Before ending our night, to make our experience complete we try the Amber Dream, a cocktail inspired by the natural treasures of Sopot. Our drinks arrive hidden under the dome of smoke. A blend of amber-infused vodka and local honey creates a unique flavour – full of sweetness, yet oozing maturity.

Seaside air and sunny interiors create a perfect place to recharge and I leave Rezydent feeling calm and balanced.
