Inside Jil Sander’s Celebration of Sound with Cisco

FOLLOWING the unveiling of Jil Sander‘s Spring/ Summer 2026 collection at Milan Fashion Week last September — Simone Bellotti‘s introductory offering as creative director — the Milan-based, German fashion house are looking to toast its new era overseas, with an immersive listening experience at its Ginza flagship store.

Enter Cisco, Japan’s pioneering record store for over 36 years (before its closure in late 2007). Staging a temporary revival of the much-loved shop, Jil Sander pays homage to the place that was once a magnet of music movements and a meeting point for the Japanese creative community.

From 28 March to 8 May 2026, its flagship in the upscale Ginza shopping district will be transformed into an acoustic listening environment — playing host to listening stations, high-fidelity BWV sound systems and bespoke shopping bags — all decked out in Cisco’s memorable blue hue. To further this heartfelt gesture, former Cisco staff members will also be on hand to provide music recommendations to visitors.

Surrounding the occasion, Jil Sander has also published the ‘Jil Sander Sound Zine’, featuring essays, evocative imagery and exclusive conversations with Simone Bellotti, Laurel Halo, and Ruggero Pietromarchi, alongside visionary figures of Japanese ambient music: Yutaka Hirose, Soshi Takeda, and Hiroyasu Sato.

Paired with this (inside a package aptly reminiscent of a vintage record sleeve) is a flexi disc containing the soundtrack to Jil Sander’s Autumn/ Winter 2026 show, composed by American electronic musician, Laurel Halo. Both gifts will accompany all purchases made at the Ginza store.

To start off ‘Jill Sander Sound’ in style, an opening reception was held in Tokyo this week. Uniting esteemed guests and music enthusiasts under one roof, they enjoyed special DJ sets by Ruggero Pietromarchi and Laurel Halo, surrounded by records curated by Cisco alumni. Bridging new and old influences with their new fashion vision, Jil Sander’s Japanese event is one for the books.
