ECLECTIC and youthful, Mark Fast’s AW22 collection is a tribute to the subcultures that rule nightlife. As a former raver and goth himself, Fast was inspired by his nostalgia for pre-covid evenings spent in sweaty and crowded clubs without a care in the world.
The colour palette was diverse, featuring nudes and crimson to purples and chartreuse. Fringe embellished knit party dresses of various lengths, including micro-minis and mid-length frocks. Quilted puffer jackets, coats, gloves and scarves are littered throughout the lineup – club kids have to stay warm in the queue somehow.
A matching patterned mini skirt, button-up shirt, motor jacket and puffer coat set stood out in the lineup. The set was dark grey and distressed as if it had been acid washed, with the ‘Markfast” logo in hot pink printed generously all over. Layering was all the rage – tube tops were paired over sweaters and fluffy purple coats layered on top of acid wash denim jackets. A cloakrooms is this season’s must-have.
Fashion has sat at the intersection of subculture and nightlife for decades, and the Mark Fast AW22 collection is amongst good company.
