LFW Simone Rocha SS20

THIS season the Alexandra Palace in London was taken over by a myriad of mystical and captivating garments presented by the world-renowned Irish designer. Simone Rocha showcased her SS20 collection during London Fashion Week September 2019 with her signature flair.

One word that could describe this collection is layers! The complexity of the composition of garments gives pagan- inspired designs a modern rockstar twist. Drawing her inspiration from the Irish Wren Holiday incorporating crossbody macrame hay details and hairpieces layered over delicate tulle pieces as aprons.

Organzas were embroidered with Broderie Anglaise daisies and mulberry berries and paired up with frills and delicate flower patterns on silk taffeta. The collection featured exaggerated silhouettes and distorted proportions all embellished with refined pearls and rhinestones. The silk suit most definitely caught our attention for its amazing salmon color and eye-catching print, styled with a long white shirt with frilled sleeves and platform sandals.

One of the standout features of the collection were the accessories, from giant pearls as handbags and masculine embellished brogues to baroque-esque headbands with studs and statement jewelry.

Rhinestones and pearls were not the only embellishments on the catwalk as the fellow Irish stars including Olwen Fouéré, Jessie Buckley, Simone, Kirby, Charlene McKenna, Valene Kane, Tia Bannon, and Lesley Manville joined for the most stylish celebration of the Irish culture.
