Menswear AW16 Milan: Etro

Etro scaled back their agenda this season in a move that would shock the fashionable masses in Milan, because when a brand like Etro ousts pattern and embellishment, you’re going to notice. One can only surmise that this is a cornerstone Italian fashion brand’s response to the current all-or-nothing state of Italian fashion.

Brooding, blushing hues carried the collection, one which doted heavily on uncluttered knitwear, silken formal wear and sparsely checked outwear, with nods to so-called themes which rusticity and spiritual affinity.

All very much a winter’s tale, with shadowy leafy prints here and there but hardly a sneak peek of Etro’s famed paisley, the collection drew heavily on the inward-looking stance that many take during colder seasons and in that way, tapped into some quite interesting human emotions.

Fortunately for Kean Etro, creative commander for menswear, the clothing carried itself very well throughout and a little change in the air was a nice move to make people really pay attention.
