FRIGORIFERI MILANESI, a contemporary art centre restored from a 19th century ice factory, was once again transformed into runway for the Annakiki FW19 show at the Milan Fashion Week. The theme of the collection – Embrace Imperfection – sparked through animal prints, daring writings and flashes of glitter, also debuting the eco-fur use of the brand.
Oversized silhouettes, so typical of Anna Yang, pervaded this triumphant collection that celebrated beauty in its essence. “Forget the rules” and “You are beautiful” were spotted among the mottos of the show. Among the tailored looks, belted with the now ubiquitous Annakiki gold buckle, the collection embraced a sequence of wild prints: zebra-motif on coats and a stunning one-piece, a head-to-toe leopard dress, and a vast use of fur in an array of shapes and colours.
Glass particularly liked the galore of puff sleeves, especially in the black-and-white suit with leather trousers, adorned with a simple yet sumptuous detail – bright leather red gloves. Colour play was important in the collection: some of the looks balanced gorgeously the shades, layering up red trousers with a pink shirt and a slightly pinker jacket, or throwing a subtle check coat over the bright green-purple ensemble.
The collection delivered on its message, showing that the nature is accepting and celebratory of varieties. While chic and bold, the outfits also looked wearable – it is possible to embrace imperfection not only on the runway, but also in everyday life.
