Bottega’s acclaimed Tomas Maier went on a journey for menswear this season in Milan and the house’s sartorial spirit meant that utility usurped all else.
Functioning as a stylish uniform for the fashion wilderness, Bottega realigned itself with harsher terrains that require chine knit sweaters and a heavy dosage of cupro, a trendy cotton fibre utilised on account of its strength. To add some flavour to the mineral hues and rather vanilla traces of corduroy this Maier spliced some ethnic touches here and there and ran this eco-friendly greenwashing thread thorughout the entire collection.
In fact, the act of exposing the bones of the skeleton that is the quintessence of Bottega Veneta – craftsmanship, quality and understated elegance is perhaps more pungent in this collection. This results in a number of pieces that we’d very happily wear when venturing to unknown lands and can quite confidently say that each piece would certainly give it’s wearer an instantly cultured edge.
