NYFW AW15: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim is on a roll. 2015 marking the 10-year anniversary of his label, the past seasons has seen the brand grow and develop, from the on-trend consumer favourite to a bona-fide fashion signature in its own right. Incorporating this confidence, Lim produced one of his best collections yet. His sense of polished urban cool had a naturalness and ease about it that is hard to come by.

Autumnal layers were mixed and matched, utilitarian parkas and gilets with bias-cut, asymmetric skirts or fearless leopard prints. Cargo-style trousers were made relevant in silky khaki or black and paired with a simple sleeveless vest. The outerwear was edgy and wearable – straps draped coats casually across the shoulders or gathered them lazily at the waist. Stripy op art prints, bold checks, a very enticing deep burgundy wool and artfully frayed charcoal denim added to the composition. Perfecting Lim´s vision, the result was youthfully rebellious yet sophisticated in the best way possible.
