NYFW AW17: Carolina Herrera

PRISTINE, pure, protestant − Carolina Herrera has brought us into the AW17 season with elegant classics mixed with the detailed gowns she has proven herself to have a knack for. The look is conservative with a few details reminiscent of 17th century Puritans.

The collection features an abundance of feminine ruffles, pleats and sheer inserts – all designed to accentuate the female form. The main focus is on the shoulders and sleeves, with sheer fabrics draped across the clavicle; and ribbons and pleats flowing over the shoulders and down to the forearms.

Herrera went for a more neutral palette but still with a few pops of colour here and there. The first few looks are pure black and white and hint back to a more conservative time – while the final gowns are slightly more edgy and daring. It’s a feast for the eyes and portrays a sophisticated sense of glamour.
