NYFW SS15: MM6 Maison Martin Margiela

Japanese futurism meets Southwest classic ropers’ wear at the MM6 Maison Martin Margiela show. A silken jumpsuits belted with denim preceded looks more full-frontal cowgirl chic, like leather chaps with a lingerie-style shift, wide-legged unisex denim with a bandana top, and an oversized patchwork denim coat.  Patchwork, denim, leather and fringe were present with ubiquity this SS15 collection.

So too was silk — silken blazers and pantsuits, a collared minidress, a deep-V lounge coat. The collection maintained true-to-self, gracefully touching on femininity without the compromise of Margiela’s characteristic androgyny or progressive, avant-garde largess of pattern and silhouette. It’s a little bit country — a little bit (futurist) rock and roll.
