RWANDA, East Africa is now the location of a brand new One&Only Gorilla’s Nest luxury resort, which opened its doors at the beginning of November.
Located in Kinigi, in the foothills of the Virunga volcano range, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is exposed to one the world’s most wonderful natural locations, such as the Volcanoes National Park, which is home to the highest number of endangered mountain gorillas, five dormant volcanoes, and a rainforest.

As guests arrive at the luxury resort, they are greeted by traditional drumming, a signature rose drink from the resort’s own rose garden, and a locally produced coffee drink. The resort itself encompasses 21 “jungle-chic havens”, with a modern African aesthetic, designed to organically blend in with its exterior. All rooms include private decks and in-room fireplaces, while suites also offer dining areas and outdoor bathtubs amongst the trees. Meanwhile, resort’s main restaurant, Nest, offers principally Rwandan and African-inspired cuisine, made from local farming produces.

In light of the location of One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, all guests will have access to the National Park, where they can witness the world’s largest population of the endangered mountain gorillas. Additionally, guests will have access to a wide range of onsite activities, including coffee tasting, yoga, photography, and cycling. As for more soothing activities, guests can enjoy the One&Only Spa, which offers a relaxation room, an open-air heated pool, a Fitness Centre, as well as wholesome treatments, using African plant-based ingredients. Three of such treatments pay homage to the resort’s location and are inspired by nature and the traditions of the local community.
Located only two and a half hours away from the Kigali International Airport, guests can access One&Only Gorilla’s Nest either by driving through scenic landscapes or by taking a 25-minute helicopter flight, landing on the resort’s private helipad.
