Valentino’s top creative dogs Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s stuck to the house codes this season for a menswear presentation staged in harmony with the design house’s affinity with pattern making and fine form. The directors of design elevated simple menswear cuts, made uber contemporary in anorak, sleek leather jackets and simple jumpers that featured strategic colour blocking for someone who wants to keep warm, remain stylish and always appear entirely pragmatic.
In addition to that, the iconic clothes-maker moniker Valentino also debuted some suits of blood red tartan that stood out singularly amongst the rest until they added some ensembles composed of some classic menswear checks into the mix. These pieces had their own signature that expanded this collection beyond a simple menswear showing. Beyond that even, Valentino kept it coming with some more suits of luxe structured patterned silk that, in all honesty, we have never seen before.
Valentino’s Chiuri and Piccioli’s scored high for AW15, styling each contemporary look sublimely and utilising the best the house’s archive has to offer at the same time. You guessed it – the Aztec tessellation print was incorporated heavily into a menswear vernacular and it worked a treat.
