Private collection of African Tribal Art in Hong Kong

For the first time in Hong Kong, a private collection of original West African art pieces will be showcased. Presented by Harbour of Art, Les Arts Premiers features ritual figures and masks from the Fang, Mambila, Mahongwey, Dan, Kwele, Kota, Punu, and the Songye Tribes. The original pieces have been collected locally by a native European who has lived in West Africa since the 1960s.

Made for tribal ceremonies and rituals, the pieces reflect each tribe’s traditional cultural expression, and give insight into the West African sense of identity. With the growing relationships between Africa and Asia, these pieces will undoubtedly spark the interest of the public and gain considerable recognition in Hong Kong and the rest of Asia.
