LOOKING out onto the visionary designs of Paco Rabanne has always been a note-worthy experience, and Julien Dossena‘s Pre-Fall 2024 Facets of Dressing is no different.
The timeline of Dossena’s inspirations for each collection is a work of art itself – and for his Pre-Fall 24, we land somewhere between medieval space-age and a 1970s utility-focused period.
A wardrobe through the prism of Paco Rabanne opens to a revelation of fluidity and showcases how influential each individual’s experiences are for inspiring one’s style.
Intricate metal embroideries and shimmering studs outline denim, flowing maxi skirts, and a sheer cut-out top, each detail a wonderful example of the contemporary craftsmanship Rabanne has been known for since its founding.
Silhouettes shift with ease from slinky to layered as a dazzling gold mini dress is worn under a padded parka coat, each look fitted to the model’s body with an effortless perfection.
Presenting a day-to-evening theme, the House’s Pre-Fall 24 is set against backdrops of desert at day and night, where colours of midnight blue stand bold against the sun, and metallic silvers shimmer as if under the moonlight.
Khaki appears again and again in multi-pocketed cargo shorts and trousers for a daytime look, and black knits ribbed in gold offer a powerful vision for the evening.
A motif of transparency and motion shines over the collection in the form of mousseline tunics and a draping top with wide-leg trousers.
In continuity with last season, assemblage returns in materials of wood, metal, and glossy black rhodoïd. As is the signature of Rabanne, Dossena presents a chainmail-like disced dress and top, in the shade of burnt orange.
Rabanne’s classic statement bag, the 1969, is re-imagined into a miniature version, panelled in shearing or black discs, adorned with the collection’s key gold studs.
Their sphere-shaped 1969 appears in a combining creation of metal and leather, acting as a strong reminder of Rabanne’s masterful and unique techniques.
