SOPHIE’S, a renowned Chelsea restaurant inspired by the great steakhouses of New York that opened in 2002, will launch a second restaurant in Soho.

Sophie’s was co-founded by Sophie Bathgate and Rupert Power, childhood friends with a passion for the food and hospitality industry, with the aim of serving fantastic steak with signature 10oz Martinis. The restaurant became immediately popular with West Londoners because of the high quality of the meat and the warm hospitality. Bathgate and Power decided to use the experience and knowledge they had gained over the past fifteen years and open a larger restaurant in the former Moulin Cinema in Soho. The project will include restoring some of the original features of the cinema.

Sophie’s Soho incorporates a large all-day dining restaurant, bar and covered terrace, which spans across the front of the building. This area will transform from a relaxed atmosphere during the day time to a more sophisticated, sultry mood for the evenings. The menu includes simple, classic dishes, such as centre cut fillet, béarnaise, fries and chargrilled rump steak, butter lettuce, rocket and hot mustard sandwich.

Sitting above the bar area is the Steakhouse. The kitchen will open onto the restaurant area and the specially made circular standing grill will be used to cook in front of diners creating a more theatrical dining experience. Unsurprising the main element of the menu will be classic cuts of steak, which diners are invited to share amongst the table. However, the menu at Sophie’s Soho will deliver from Sophie’s Chelsea for the emphasis on vegetable and fish dishes as well as meat, including Cornish turbot with sorrel butter and scallops from the fire with garlic butter.
