Sunspel collaborates with the Shepherd UNDERCOVER on a three essentials capsule

BRITISH luxury label Sunspel has announced its first collaboration with The Shepherd UNDERCOVER, a season-less collection by renowned Japanese designer Jun Takahashi. Here, we see the merging of Sunspel’s storied heritage with Takahashi’s contemporary design.

Founded in 1860, Sunspel is loved for its timeless wardrobe essentials crafted from the finest natural materials, cue the world’s first luxury tee, the label also introduced the boxer short to the UK, and famously tailored the Riviera Polo Shirt for James Bond. Today, its Classic T-shirts are still handmade at its factory in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire where Sunspel has been based since 1937.

Now, the Tokyo-based label, The Shepherd UNDERCOVER has joined Sunpel to offer a small but perfectly formed collection that features three elevated essentials: a tee, a pyjama shirt, and pyjama trousers.

David Telfer, Design Director at Sunspel says of the line, “A collaboration where iconic design meets expert craft. It was an honour to work with Jun Takahashi – a designer I’ve admired for many years – and to see how he engaged with our decades of fabric and manufacturing expertise to bring a fresh design vision to life. These are timeless pieces, elevated by detailing and refined fabrics that transform them from basics into garments that will be appreciated for years to come.”

First up, the relaxed-fit heavyweight tee has been crafted from the brand’s signature carbon-brushed Supima cotton, and comes complete with The Shepherd UNDERCOVER’s embroidered chest patch and zigzag-stitched pocket.

The pyjama shirt, inspired by Sunspel’s nightwear archive, comes in cotton flannel or striped poplin and includes the same distinctive patch, zigzag pocket stitching, buttoned cuffs, and contrasting neck lining.

Completing the trio, the straight-leg pyjama trousers are offered in coordinating fabrics. They have an elasticated waistband, multiple pockets, and branded embroidery, with a contrast half-moon and embroidered badge for a final touch.
