Aston Martin F1 Gets A Defected Soundtrack

TEMS, The Rolling Stones, Santan Dave, Dom Dolla and Barry Can’t Swim have all previously worked with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.

Now, the team has added Defected Records to that list with ‘Driven by Sound’, a new partnership centred on British house music and a three-day Soho pop-up featuring everything from live DJ sets to vinyl records, podcasts, merch, and customisation.

Aston Martin F1 x Defected Records

Established in London at the tail end of the ’90s, just as the noughties were coming in, Defected Records is one of Britain’s longest-running independent house music labels, and alongside releasing music, it runs international events, festivals and radio shows, with an online audience of more than 12 million.

Tapping into two of Defected Chairman, CEO and co-owner Wez Saunders’ lifelong interests, he says of the collaboration, “As someone who has held an unconditional passion for both music and sport my whole life, the chance to bring the worlds of Defected Records and Aston Martin Aramco together is a compelling one.”

The collaboration is part of I / AM DROPS, Aston Martin Aramco’s series of limited releases and fan events, and this Defected edition includes an invite to the preview night, a bespoke record box, a selection of vinyl inspired by ‘Driven by Sound,’ plus there’s a run of tees.

The Soho takeover is the latest addition to Aston Martin Aramco’s growing list of music projects. Rob Bloom of Aston Martin Aramco points to the loyal crowds surrounding both F1 and house music: “Community is a vital part of F1, and our collaboration with Defected Records enables our shared goal of bringing people together.” It’s all about the fun and inclusivity: “Whether through the excitement of Formula One or the energy of house music, we’re inviting fans to experience both worlds in a completely new way.”
