MFW SS15: Emilio Pucci

Evoking the boho-luxe, disco days of the 1970s, Peter Dundas for Pucci has designed a Spring collection worthy of that bygone era. Peter Dundas’ fringed hems, suede boots, flared trousers, and tie-dye dresses seemed to be taken straight out of the music and posters of that decade.

Rendered in a sunset inspired palette, the collection shied away from neither colour nor pattern. Pops of tangerine orange, coral, ochre and seafoam were accompanied by the Florentine house’s archival prints, reworked into tent dresses and beaded miniskirts. As always, the workmanship was exquisite, reflected in the crochet beaded mini-dress donned by Joan Smalls, or the floral fringed leather trousers that Elena Peter sashayed down the runway in.

Heavier, encrusted surfaces were balanced out by airy peasant blouses and billowing tie-dye dresses, while sharp tailoring added a crisp edge to the floaty bohemian silhouettes. Ultimately, the series of printed goddess gowns at the show’s finale –a lush, vibrant combination of print and colour – pinpointed what Pucci was best at.
