Sarah Burton presented Alexander McQueen’s SS15, a radical collection filled with glimmering, sleek and provocative eroticism where the tension between freedom and constraint was played with.
Alexander McQueen’s AW14 was about gothic feathered qowns mixed with lyrical romanticism while this time traditional Geisha print garments highlighted by kimonos in flower print met futuristic-gladiator looks with handcrafted facemasks and warrior sandals. Black and white pieces adorned with Marc Quinn’s orchids, dark florals and organza flower skirts offered mosaic looks in strict silhouettes. Gradually the fetishism became more intense with laser-cut leather harnesses, python skirt suits, sleek coats embraced by lacquered belts, tied square shouldered jackets with shimmering surfaces and ruffle details. The peak of the eroticism was a see-through, sleek jacquard cape with collar paired with perspex platforms.
Embellishment, Sarah Burton’s signature, was evident throughout the collection with a clean colour pallete of black and white, shining silver, blossom pink and florals taking on the otherworldly beauty of fetishism and domination with a latent vulnerability of a woman’s soul.
