LFW SS18: Julien Macdonald

JULIEN Macdonald’s SS18 show for LFW was all party, blue Ciroc and tassels. Swamped in strobe lighting and sequins, the models walked Macdonald’s collection under the arches of the Bankside Vaults on the Southbank, London. Guests of the show had to queue to get into the venue and fumble to the bar, very much like a nightclub. With the likes of Winnie Harlow, Alessandra Ambrosio and Hailey Baldwin, it certainly was an impressive It girl performance.

Sequins, tassels, short dresses leaving little to the imagination, cut-outs and fringing made up the womenswear collection. Dresses wrapped around toned bodies, slicked straight hair and smokey eyes all made for the ultimate club vibe. Other than the odd pair of lace up heels there was little experimentation with accessories.

Amongst the darker colours Macdonald added a few floral pieces with corset-like bodices and long trains that billowed behind the models. The odd splash of menswear included studded black leather jackets, low slung belts and biker boots.
