Dior presents the Winter 2019-2020 Men’s Campaign

PAYING homage to Christian Dior’s first profession as an art gallerist, Artistic Director Kim Jones presents the Dior Winter 2019-2020 Men’s Campaign in collaboration with American contemporary artist, Raymond Pettibon.

Pettibon came to prominence in the late seventies by creating art for the California punk rock scene, creating album art for bands like Sonic Youth and Black Flag. Pettibon often uses American iconography and culture to create a dialogue about politics, religion and sexuality.

Photographed by Steven Meisel in a stark art studio with the models surrounded by various pieces of Pettibon’s art, the campaign highlights the creative spirit between Dior and Pettibon, as Jones states, “We selected some of our favourite pieces of Raymond’s work which has never been seen or shown before because they were things I loved.”

Pettibon’s influence extends past the backdrop of the campaign – the house’s classic clean-cut lines feature aspects of Pettibon’s work, an eccentric interpretation of Mona Lisa by the artist features on sweaters, while the Dior logo is reworked by Pettibon in a graffiti-esque calligraphy.
