Kenzo to release limited edition, gender-neutral denim collection

FOLLOWING from his debut collection for the Maison in Paris in January, Nigo has teased the drop of the third limited edition capsule collection for Spring 2022. Focusing on denim, the creations intend to revert back to old house codes of natural elements while paying homage to Kenzo Takada, who sadly passed away in 2020.

Though the denim capsule features eight pieces for women and seven for men, the brand describes each garment as being “genderless in nature” adding an element of fluidity to the creative’s design process.

Since being appointed artistic director in Fall 2021, DJ turned designer Nigo has caused quite the stir with his exciting new venture for the Japanese brand, his vision for Spring/Summer consisting of four consecutive drops, the denim capsule marking the release of the third.

Denim blousons, trousers, skirts and more appear embroidered with the Japanese boke flower, an emblem introduced by Nigo upon his arrival to the Maison, and since included in the prior drops for Spring, including a series of 100 boke NFTs.

The infusion of flora and fauna, both within the designs and the campaign shoot for the collection are intended as signifiers of symbols and feelings that continue the “legacy of the founder”.
