FORGET sugar spice and everything nice. Womenswear is made of feminine florals, and fabric for days – at least according to Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s AW17 collection.
It all felt like an ethereal dream in some alternative Victorian-era universe. Gothic style touches were added throughout in the form of corseted bodesses, extravagant sleeves and oversized frills – all modernised by flamboyant colours and structured shoulders.
There was an abundance of sheer fabrics, layered over dense floral patterns. Even through all the mismatching, frilled detail and seemingly random cut out – somehow the collection felt like an eclectic surge of elegance.
