LFWM: Astrid Andersen SS18

THIS season Danish designer Astrid Andersen did not disappoint and maintained her usual high standards with her SS18 collection, which is a combination of tradition and modernity, presented in an unconventional way. This season, the designer used a classic Safari theme which has been frequently used throughout the history of fashion. The idea harmonised with brand’s aesthetic with a great outcome.

Andersen knows exactly how to mix colours and fabrics and is well-known for using pattern in her previous collections. This season was no different. Metallic lace and loose natural cottons in addition with printed floral silk created an unusual contrast, so as combining contemporary elements, with heritage and luxury, which are usually associated with different eras. This individual approach to translating the past into the future and finding a common component makes the brand very fresh and interesting.

In addition to this vibrant collection, the designer collaborated with Monies jewellery, a Danish company, specialised in elegant and avant-garde pieces, but also with Saga Furs that helped to create the fur elements seen in some designs. The footwear was provided by Nike which worked well with the whole collection.

The soundtrack by James Messiah created a unique atmosphere and it seemed like every single element during the show, despite the obvious contrast, created a fascinating outcome.
