Louis Vuitton launches new Women’s Fragrance Heures d’Absence

IN A flurry of creativity, decadence and glamour, better known as the Roaring Twenties, French Maison Louis Vuitton launched its very first perfume, Heures dAbsence, named after the Vuitton family’s country home in the region of Seine-et-Marne.

Created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the Master Perfumer for the French Maison, the fragrance captured spirit and vitality, with its elaborate design alluding to the newly emerging modes of transport at the time. Such references included an embossed airplane on the glass bottle, while a kilometre marker silhouette formed the structure of the box.

With the original formula lost, it seemed fitting to seize the opportunity and reinvent Heures d’Absence according to personal vision, thus rebirthing its presence nearly a century later. Inspired by themes of joy, love and escapism, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud wished to convey the fragrance in an ode to the blossoms from Grasse, greatly considered to be the world’s capital of perfume.

Opalescent Jasmine offers a majestic edge, with aromatic hints of May rose evoking the scent of flowers dotted along the French Riviera in springtime, all processed using the CO2 extraction technology. Warm vanilla notes of Peruvian balm highlight radiance and sophistication, with Sri Lankan sandalwood and musk promising eternal indulgence and sensuality.
