MFWM AW20: Etro

KEAN Etro, the creative director and mastermind behind the Italian house of Etro continues to push the boundaries of creativity and flair, presenting a handsome AW20 menswear collection in Milan on Sunday. A firm favourite among numerous designers this season, Etro showcases separates comprised of fringed jackets and blanket coats, as well as copious ponchos and shawls, embellished with golden embroidery and other meticulous details to emphasise its lavish edge.

A free-spirited, flamboyant aesthetic runs through the entirety of the collection, evident in stand out pieces such as the leopard print coat and electric blue velvet suit. while simultaneously applying elements typically associated with classic British country style, such as herringbone and tweed jackets, and patent leather boots.

Oil painting portraits that pay homage to Kean’s ancestry adorn the walls of the draughty industrial show space, bestowing a cordial warmth to complement the opulent ambiance.

Muted blacks and browns create a base for the collection, enhanced by a vibrant colour palette of cobalt blues, carmine reds and golden yellows to highlight the energetic passion invested into the collection development. Such colours work in cohesion with the vibrancy of exotic patterns to portray the collection in a regal hue.

Etro’s AW20 collection exudes lavishness while retaining a classic and versatile edge for everyday wear.
