Milan Menswear AW15: Gucci

Playing on the theme of androgyny, Gucci showcased their latest collection for menswear AW15 using a mix of feminine and masculine ideals. There was a sense of romanticism, especially with the juxtaposition of pastels against bold and basic shades, which then lead into style.

Conveying a French theme, Gucci used Pussybow collars and berets to mould the models into “wandering artists”; choosing spectrums of reds, blues and whites in an ode to France. Using subtle bows and cravats to add a unique twist to statement pieces, Gucci focused on transforming garments by using delicate accessories.

Forming an almost thrown together appearance, the sublime clashing of shade and texture added a predated feel to the collection. With striking pattern thrust against block colouring to form an eccentric look, the conflicting choice of silk against wool added a touch of sentimentality.

Gucci’s portrayal of French traditionalism has created a distinctive collection that incorporates a union of male and female attributes. Displaying a variety of styles, Gucci has once again provided us with an idiosyncratic assortment of garments that are still versatile.
