AMID the pleasant chaos of the 2021 Venice film festival, Miu Miu hosted an event called Miu Miu Women’s Tales Conversation as part of the Giornate degli Autori program. The event included three separate conversations with women in the film industry moderated by Penny Martin, the editor-in-chief of women’s magazine The Gentlewoman.

The invited speakers included directors Kaouther Ben Hania and Isabel Sandoval. They spoke about the critical role that directorial autonomy plays in artistry – highlighting the need for more women in leadership positions in Hollywood. Patricia Allison and Ciara Bravo discussed developing characters and honing their craft as young and experienced actresses.
And last but not least, actresses Sarah Gadon and KiKi Lane elaborated on taking control and pushing boundaries when it comes to creative work. The event highlighted and celebrated the budding female talent in film – keeping in line with Miu Miu’s long history of championing women.
