No Place Like Rome: Introducing The Rome EDITION

AS THE world slowly starts to turn balmy and the warm summer days creep in, we immediately turn to the sunnier side of the globe to dream of our next escape.

If your plans for the break include hours lounging in the midst of nature, watching historical horizons with a cherry infusion in hand, and soaking up the sun over the weekend, we might just have the place for you. Meet The Rome EDITION, a sophisticated celebration of Italy’s free-spirited and elegant essence, brought to life by the innovative team behind this gem.

The Rome EDITION

Nestled in a timeless 1940s building—formerly occupied by one of the main Italian banks—the structure is a striking example of the rationalist style and was created by Cesare Pascoletti in collaboration with the revered architect Marcello Piacentini.

The hotel embodies the spirit of acquaintances gathering to dream up the perfect escape. The stunning central staircase of cipollino marble from the quarries of Apuane is testament to their creative genius. Original features are retained throughout, including the central courtyards and original statues and lamps.

What’s more, as you step inside, you’ll be enveloped by a design that seamlessly merges poise with contemporary elegance. Its interiors feature airy comfort, blending clean lines (the towering ceiling makes for a compelling architecture), warm natural furnishings in wood, and custom details to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages lingering and connection. The ample rooms and suits boats sweeping views from the centre of the city, offering a placid retreat after a day of exploration.

The Terrace

Conceived by the great mind and entrepreneur, Ian Schrager, while interpreted by the hotel owners Statuto Group, the intimate 93-room Rome EDITION sets a new standard in the country’s capital. Its sophistication, refinement, and high design aesthetic makes it a meeting place for Romans and global travellers alike.

Positioned in one of the most covetable areas of Rome, the hotel is only a few short steps from Via Veneto, the most sought-after street of the country. But there’s more to the story: all major attractions are within easy reach, including the Monti streets, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia, the Spanish Steps, the famed Trevi Fountain and the wondrous Borghese Gardens.

The Rome EDITION

Rome’s profound food culture is celebrated with great care in the hotelìs culinary offering, which aims to pay homage to the city’s culinary heritage while adhering to the local and international tastes that permeate the capital. Anima, the signature restaurant at The Rome EDITION, celebrates the core of Italian dining with bold flavours inspired by Rome and Naples, curated by Chef Antonio Gentile and created from seasonal, high-quality produce.

The Rome EDITION

The restaurant focuses on using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create dishes with incredible flavours, including the likes of tagliolini all’amatriciana or carbonara, Mediterranean sea clams, and white shrimp to name a few. There is a heavy emphasis on wines from Italy and other countries, and the offering has a heavy focus on culinary pairings. The light-filled restaurant with chartreuse and blue upholstered furniture is open for breakfast, lunch, late lunch and dinner.

Anima’s sheer brilliance lies in its sophistication and elegance, inviting its guests to be allured by refined design aesthetics and attention to details.

Dishes on The Roof

The restaurant also features an expansive garden that serves as both a piazza and dining space, comprising over 400 plants and a cascade of climbing plants over the façade. A dramatic bronze metal awning overlooks teak wood banquettes and free-standing furniture along with an Italianate arrangement of lanterns to give it the feel of a traditional Roman garden.

Weekly aperitivos are available at Anima for guests and locals to come together and enjoy. A wide selection of wines and drinks are available including the signature Cardinale, a gin based cocktail, and small plates such as mozzarella and raw ham, praline of beef Genovese and skewer or roasted octopus.

The Roof is located on the seventh floor offering unobstructed views across the city skyline and landmarks. It features a travertine plunge pool surrounded by daybeds and a large bar area. Here, guests can enjoy a lunch menu featuring small plates such as the Focaccia with mozzarella and tomatoes, Tacos filled with raw white fish and avocado cream and Fried squid and shrimp served with a vegetable pickled salad and soy mayonnaise.

The Punch Room

Located on the ground floor, two unique bars set the benchmark for mixology in the city: Punch Room and Jade Bar. The Punch Room, EDITION’s signature bar concept, is an award-winning speakeasy-inspired bar concept that follows the standard set at other EDITION properties worldwide.

Born in the 17th century, traditional punches utilised the exciting new ingredients discovered on the trade routes, the five traditional ingredients of punch highlighted spirits from Europe and also spices and citrus from Africa and the east, teas from China and India, and sugar from the Indies. Taking inspiration from traditional recipes, Punch Room puts a modern spin on the drink.

In a place where every day feels like a carefree occasion, what more could one ask for? All in all, it’s a serene retreat from the urban hustle, enveloped by a wealth of undiscovered little treasures awaiting exploration.
