Phoebe English’s fashion world is just as compelling as it is, but when set in motion, in her new AW14 film for instance, everything becomes a whole lot more enticing. Boasting a barren coastal landscape setting, the new film by Marie Kristiansen is undeniably all English and being so, doesn’t skimp on the spectacular reveries of awe-inspiring sights and sound-man Hugh Jones’ chilling sounds. Calling a crack team into action, including stylist Ellie Grace Cumming with creative collaboration at the hands of Rose Eaton, English’s cutting edge clothing is used to its best effect in the secluded and somehow blissfully hostile paradise, working against the environment.
Conquering the harsh surroundings doesn’t take much when your kitted out in Phoebe English is the overriding message, it’s loud and clear and fashion forward, but one that hasn’t lost any volume despite being the sixth collaboration between English and director Kristiansen, whom Phoebe became creatively acquainted with whilst at Central St. Martins. So, if you’re hoping for a brief out-of-body brush with an unknown environment, cover new ground with Phoebe English’s newest film and take note of the suitably attired ground-breaking clothing that’s covering its own exiting new terrain.
