UNDER glorious sunshine in the French city of Nice, creative director Hedi Slimane presented his vision for Celine SS22 in a visually stunning campaign starring brand ambassadors Kaia Gerber and Blackpink’s Lisa.
An ode to architecture and history, the luxuriant façade of the Neoclassical Hotel Le Negresco serves as the backdrop for the show, interspersed with black and white shots of the collection’s models, creating a striking, dreamlike effect.
To the tune of Vitamin C by Krautrock pioneers Can, models that included Kaia, Suzanne Lindon and Diana Silvers strode along the Promenade des Anglais — also known as Walkway of the English – soaking up the Mediterranean heat, outfitted in the fashion house’s signature French girl style.
Dubbed Baie Des Agnes — or Angel’s Bay — Slimane’s SS22 offering was brimming with House signatures, from crisp tailoring to supple leather accessories elevated with the golden Triomphe plaque.
The third part of the designer’s cinematic womenswear trilogy that began with SS21 inside Monaco’s Stade Louis II stadium, this season tapped into our current obsession with Y2K-esque style with oversized tracksuit co-ords embellished in sequins, sports jackets and low-rise cargo pants worn with kitten heels.
Elsewhere, slinky sequin slip dresses, oversized leather blousons and leopard-print chiffon skirts offered voluminosity and silhouette, elevating evening wear with a pared back edge.
Epitomising the relaxed cool of the French Riviera, Hedi Slimane offered an effortlessly chic take on a day-to-night wardrobe in a collection filled with glamour and romance.
