V IN Roman Numerals means five so it’s only fitting that after a three-year interval, The Horrors are back with their fifth studio album, V, to be released in September.
V by The Horrors
Earlier on this year, the Southend-on-Sea band of five, released their latest single, Machine, a psychedelic, acid trip that gave us a taste of what we can expect in V. Different from their upbeat and dynamic albums, V, is a diverse ten-track album which explores different genres and eras of music. In reference to the band’s diverse musical revolution, lead vocalist, Faris Badwan says, “It is a risk. But life isn’t much fun without risk. It’s the antithesis of being creative if you know what you’re going to be doing every time.” Tom Cowan, The Horrors keyboardist, added, “It’s natural, if you do see yourself as an artist, to progress and not play it safe.”
The Horrors
Paul Epworth, who has worked with the likes of Adele, Paul McCartney, FKA Twigs and London Grammar – just to name a few – helped produced V. Working closely with the ensemble was Erik Ferguson – a director and VFX artist who created the animations for Rihanna’s 2016 MTV VMA’S backdrop and was a compositor on the film Guardians of the Galaxy also worked created The Horrors bizarre and eccentric album cover and artwork.
A UK tour has also been announced for October this year. Tickets are on sale now.
