The Barbican announces plans to livestream concerts from the Barbican Hall

THE Barbican Centre has announced that live music will return to the Centre this autumn – but in digital form.

The Barbican Centre

Due to Covid-19 and the current government guidelines, the Barbican has had to cancel all planned autumn 2020 concerts. However their digital content offer has increased. Over the past few months a growing number of new visitors have been experiencing their Read, Watch, Listen section which features a curated mix of playlists, weekly podcasts, films, videos, talks and articles that are accessible internationally.

The Barbican’s digital offer is expanding with concerts that will be streamed live from the Barbican Hall. A newly programmed series of concerts will take place in the Hall and streamed on a pay-per-view basis. This new livestreamed concert programme will feature the Centre’s resident and associate orchestras as well as a hand-picked line-up of artists. The Barbican will bring reduced live audiences back to the Barbican Hall for some of these events, depending on the Government’s advice at the time – when it is safe and permitted to do so.

In these ever-changing times the Arts seem to be in a state of uncertainty – but with new and innovative measures such as this being put in to place, there is hope for progressing to a new state of normal.

Artists, schedules and details of the autumn concert series will be announced nearer the time.
