NYC’s Museum of Art and Design focuses on filmmaker Roy Andersson in Spring Retrospective

New York City’s Museum of Arts and Design presents It’s Hard to Be Human: The Cinema of Roy Andersson until June 27. Featuring his American breakout film A Swedish Love Story alongside his lesser known short films, commercials, and other auteurist rarities.

Says Jake Yuzna, MAD’s Director of Public Programs:

“Roy Andersson emerged from a 25year ‘exile’ from the Swedish film industry to become one of its most distinct voices. His films are astounding in both their originality and their technical achievements.”

The current, month-long series showcases Andersson’s filmic oeuvre, including his infamous trilogy, with a MAD members-only screening of its final installment, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, coming up this Tuesday, June 2.
