Menswear AW16 Milan: Philipp Plein

Philipp Plein presented their superman for the modern world at menswear in Milan this season, delivering most of what we have come to expect from the brand known for its darkly luxurious and hard-edged fashions.

Presented against a backdrop of motorcycle stunts accompanied by a live 30 pieces orchestra Plein pulled out all the stops to make sure his show was a spectacular of sorts. The clothes, as idiosyncratic as the destruction derby-cum-The Proms hoopla which surrounded them, fused sportswear with formal dressing, taking traditional menswear fabrics into consideration and reconfiguring deft sportswear staples around the tailored looks.

Christening all the high styled pageantry #PleinHero and unleashing just that to the world, his idealised masculinity, Plein made sure all eyes were on his knockout fashions for AW16. If this is what’ll be keeping us warm later on in the year, something tell us we’ll be comfortably cool for the duration.
