SHOWCASING over 170 years of design, Burberry has released a capsule collection made from the house’s signature fabric.
Innovation is at the centre of Burberry’s legacy, and the fabric that has shaped it all is gabardine. Invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879, the twill fabric is known for its diagonal ribbing, water resistance and warmth. It has been a favourite of adventurers on Arctic missions and those exploring their back gardens for more than 150 years.

A newly created short film honours the 170 years of Burberry. Taking place on the peaks of Snowdonia in Wales, it features the house’s new gabardine collection. The pillar of Burberry outerwear has been reimagined into knit jumpers and quarter zips, dyed in juniper green and hamper beige. Styled beneath a cream Burberry puffer coat, the look is a perfect expression of heritage.
Showcasing these protective outerwear pieces, the film stars explorers Connaire Cann, Jesse Grylls and Marlon Patrice alongside models Iris Lasnet and Zhuó Chen. Each model and rural daredevil is seen traversing the mountainous rocks and sweeping grasses of the highest peak in Wales.

Detailing is imperative to the house. Taking extra care in every element of craftsmanship, they have introduced a newly designed label. Inspired by the 1993 archival collection, the slogan: “Burberrys grew out of country life” has been stitched into jackets and appliquéd onto jersey pieces.
