THIS season Dior showcased their AW21 collection in the spectacular grounds of the Chateau de Versailles and Peter Philips ensured the make-up was equally striking and alluring.
Creative and image director for Dior make-up, Philips focused on the eyes, generating a mystical aura to complement the ominous storyline of the collection. “I emphasised the eyes by creating a variation on an intense smoky eye, brightened by blending out the eyeshadow. I wanted the eyes to be dark and poetic, in harmony with the mysterious, fairytale atmosphere of this collection,” says Philips.

Using Diorshow 24H Stylo 091 Matte Black, Philips began by circling the eye to create a dark line and followed this up with Diorshow Mono Couleur Couture 098 Black Bow Matte in the eyes inner and outer corners. Through blending the eye shadow, a lighter area was created in the centre of the eyelid which helped to open the eye.
The eyes were completed by structuring the eyebrows using the Diorshow Brow Styler and Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Brow.

Moving onto the complexion, Philips first prepped the skin with the Capture Totale skincare routine and ensured to care for the eyes with the Capture Totale Super Potent Eye Serum.
He then applied Dior Backstage Face & Body Primer 001 Universal to erase any flaws and allow the perfect hold for Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation, available in a range of shades.
The complexion’s final touches consisted of Dior Flash Luminizer and a minimal amount of Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder.

To ensure the eyes remained the main-attraction, Philips opted for the rest of the look to be natural.
Lips were simply hydrated with Rouge Dior Satin Balm 000 Diornatural, nails were painted in the light pink shade Dior Vernis 108 Muguet, and the models’ hair was kept natural, only accessorised with either scarves, headbands or veils from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection.
