AMERICAN Academy Award winner and actress Laura Dern has been announced as the latest ambassador of Roger Vivier alongside the brands launch of the first segment of the Vivier Express “Travelling Icons” series.
The short film dreamt up by creative director Gherardo Felloni interprets the brand’s most iconic pieces, with the first episode featuring Dern as she embodies the essence of the timeless Viv’ Choc handbag, an emblem of elegance.
Laura Dern for Roger Vivier
“It’s such a delight to see my friendship with Roger Vivier and Gherardo Felloni blossom into a new project that combines my craft of acting with my love of fashion. The Vivier Express is such a playful concept that reinterprets so many cinematic tropes with humour and style.” – Laura Dern
The film is brought to life by Italian director Nicolangelo Gelormini, screenwriter Andrea Danese and Studio Paurasees. A train captured through artfully thought-out snippets sets the scene, with each shot portraying the craftsmanship and innovative nature innate to Vivier.
A crossroads between fashion, art and storytelling, the short film demonstrates style and sophistication qualities inherent to both Dern and the Viv’ Choc handbag.
Laura Dern for Roger Vivier
Episode one displays the quintessence of romanticism with a steam train and its pink velvet furnishings travelling through the French countryside.
The story unfolds as the character encounters a stranger whom she locks her gaze, and between which the two share a tension as her I Love Vivier pumps skim his loafers.
As she stares out the window and he begins to sketch in his sketchbook, the landscapes pass by, and the only thing between them is her black Viv’ Choc carrier.
When the train comes to a standstill, the stranger retrieves his things, only leaving behind a piece of paper with a portrait illustrated inside its folds, its depictions unknown to Dern.
“It feels natural to communicate Roger Vivier’s aesthetic through cinema, given the House’s historic connection to Hollywood and the world of French and European cinema that began with Belle de Jour. Laura Dern is an actress with a rare charisma, and I am obsessed by the David Lynch films she has acted in, so she has often been an inspiration for me. I am extremely honoured that she decided to collaborate with Roger Vivier on this project highlighting the Maison’s icons.” – Gherardo Felloni
