LFW SS15: Christopher Kane

Ranging from regal aubergine to striking cornflower blue, Christopher Kane crafted a collection that speaks to the modern woman. Colours were clean and sharp as he experimented with only five tones, opting for monochromatic shades against maroon and purple. He began by introducing us to a pattern composed of diagonal rectangles, layering the look with matching jacket and top, to form a classic ensemble.

Combining an androgynous edge to a mostly feminine collection, Kane used head to toe satin to form tailored suits.  The sleek fabric added a certain shine to the garments; contrasting against the transparent material to give a sultry look. Emphasising waists; garments were fitted to display a feminine silhouette. Whilst sashes of chiffon gracefully fell around the shoulders and neck, revealing a small amount of skin.

Pattern was subtle, as he displayed simple looks that formed block colour outfits. Rope design was draped over sheer fabric creating a mix of colour that was united by multiple knots and ties. Caught up in a cobweb design, string spiralled around string, showcasing a hint of Gothicism.

Providing the audience with a sophisticated collection, Kane enticed us to watch as his modern woman developed from day to night. Putting a grown up spin on cut out fabric, we were witness to the unique blend of autumnal colours and chic satin layers.
