BRITISH summertime had officially started and it wouldn’t be summer in the UK without the cold weather and rain. The sudden change in weather hasn’t stopped Phoebe English showcasing her menswear’s collection suitable for the UK.
Set in an open warehouse space, at the Strand BFC Showspace, the space was bare. The strong smell of paint and the bright spotlights shone over the male models as they stood in front of wooden podiums covered in industrial plastic cover-up. Creative clay pots, the models walked over to wooden shelving’s to place their work, allowing the audience a better look at the garments.
Similar to her SS17 collection, the designer picked the same colour palette. However, the blue, black, green and stripped linen material were all a shade lighter. A look that stood out for Glass, was the rain-coat and trouser combo. Both contained a variety of shades of blue patched together is different square sizes. Another look was dark blue construction form shirt contrasted with a lighter shade mac-jacket. The jacket contained hide-away buttons and a knotted belt, a nod to the brand’s concept.
Cream pea-coats, thick high top boots, chunky green drawstring sacks and cream and blue striped shorts and two-piece gave a day trip to Brighton beach impression and at Glass we are all for it.
