Magda Butrym unveils its AW24 collection in honour of freedom

THIS AUTUMN-WINTER 2024 season, Magda Butrym unveiled its new collection, an exploration of and homage to freedom and resistance to the conventionalities of the fashion industry.

Captured through a visually narrative lookbook and inspired by the Grey Gardens, each shot encapsulates a free-spirited nature while showcasing a collection characteristic of a heroine’s charm, courage and confidence.

Magda Butrym is constantly recognised for bringing her take on feminity to fashion, attaching to it an essence of romanticism, minimalist sexiness, effortless elegance and courageous sensitivity.

As a response to the well-versed theme of feminity in her designs, Butrym states, “I don’t want to define women. I want to empower them. I want us all to feel comfortable in our own skin, happy, powerful and confident. We should all be our own muses.”

The collection sees head-wrappable maxi cardigans and oversized fitting coats fabricated from shearling as an ode to Edie’s garden wear, while silhouettes demonstrate hardy outerwear with seductive adjustments.

Saturated colours bring a quintessence of richness to the garments, with bright red and green hues juxtaposed with dark black. Butrym offers an elegant take on the amalgamation of masculine and feminine silhouettes, extracting the essence of joy in contradicting the two styles.

Magda Butrym’s strong appreciation for Polish culture is palpable in the collection and symbolised by the daringly sleek headscarf. Divulging into the crux of feminity and Slavic heritage, the flower-embellished shawls champion and protect the essence of womanhood.

As the brand continues its pursuit of redefining luxury fashion by blending culture and innovation, the AW24 collection represents all those who yearn to express their individuality, using style as an identity-building method.

The AW24 collection encourages both a hunger for power and a need for sustaining one’s femininity. The rose-embellished headscarves and petal-like outlines represent an invitation to women, motivating them to explore their authentic sense of style while surrounded by settings of wild nature and industrial infrastructure.
