In Milan this season Salvatore Ferragamo built their latest menswear collection around strong graphic motifs and rendered this choice superbly thanks to the fine leather-based craftsmanship they are known far and wide for.
Elsewhere they kept it fairly formal but partnered this with an artisanal twist that included block colours jigsaw’ed together in chic complimentary colour combinations of luxurious typically masculine hues. There was all a certain youth to it too, perhaps even a studied naiveté to the baseball caps worn with suits and colour correlating ties but it worked very well.
The character each piece had will certainly instil one with an attractive chunk of charisma on donning the well matched separates. Could one even go as far as to call Ferragamo’s SS16 offering “soul-clothing”, or clothing for the soul? This stock of menswear was certainly that.
It all came to a very tidy, somewhat innocuous end and when Massimiliano Giornetti briefly unveiled himself for the finale, he appeared as being in just as good spirits as the wondrous clothing he had produced.
