PFW SS21: Loewe

WHILE digital fashion week can be a wonderful opportunity to experiment with the format of fashion week, it lacks something crucial. The need to see, touch, and fully immerse yourself in a collection – something that can only be experienced when seeing the clothes in the flesh. Loewe Creative Director Johnathan Anderson has found a new way to overcome this, with the production of a collection inside a box.

Including a letter from Johnathan Anderson, paper mannequins, textile samples, and atelier sketches of designs, there is something incredibly personal about this collection. Of course, not everyone can have access to the Show-In-The-Box, limiting its scope for people outside the industry where digital fashion week has showed promise and inclusivity.

But for those who are unable to fully immerse themselves in the show, Anderson has intwined the concept of construction and deconstruction that stems from the box, into the collection. See as Anderson conceptualises these ideas through circular cut-outs, statement balloon shapes, extreme ruching, and curvaceous lines.

The collection experiments with abstract shapes, while balancing the fashion house’s signature eye for craftsmanship with hand-woven pieces and hand-waved calfskin.

It’s a combination of new image with traditional craft that works perfectly.
