Zeng has created six new paintings that are inspired by his idol’s famous self-portraits. Three of these paintings will be exhibited in the Van Gogh Museum this autumn. The new paintings will be accompanied in the gallery by Zeng’s take on The Shoes of Van Gogh and a huge work inspired by Van Gogh’s Wheatfield with Crows. The paintings are made by Zeng combining Van Gogh’s illustrious swirling patterns with traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques.
