In collaboration with Charlotte Olympia and Gagosian Gallery, Studio in a School presents Stepping Up for Art. This fashion and art exhibition directly benefits Studio in a School’s ongoing mission to provide visual arts education at underfunded public schools in New York City.
Twenty contemporary artists including Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, George Condo, Laurie Simmons, Christo, Tom Sachs, Marilyn Minter, Hugo Guinness, Elliott Puckette, David Levinthal, Maya Lin, Philip Taaffe, Francesco Clemente, Sarah Sze, Maira Kalman, Martin Mull, Charline von Heyl, Kenny Scharf have created their own unique variations of the Charlotte Olympia Dolly platform shoe. The artworks were on view at Gagosian Gallery from May 2—5, along with versions created by children from schools in the five New York City boroughs. An opening reception was held at Gagosian Gallery, Madison Avenue on May 1.
