BALMAIN has garnered a reputation for edgy garments that ooze modernity. But this season, Olivier Rousteing went for something a bit more rock n’ roll.
Featuring looks more likely to be seen at a Bon Jovi gig than Paris Fashion Week, Rousteing went for animal hides and an abundance of fur and feathers. All the pieces emanated a natural aura around them – especially those that appeared to be a patchwork interpretation of tribal costume.
Along with hints of native dress, there was also an abundance fire patterns, river rock style detail, black leather and a shearing coat that will be on everyone’s Christmas list come autumn. All in all, it was a continuation of Balmain’s uber-cool creations but with a tribal twist.
