This dynamic partnership extends from a connection rooted in materiality and authenticity. Dunhill’s design is driven by style, substance and purpose; engineering unique and stylish luxuries for men. This holds a mirror of sorts to the design of Fredrikson Stallard, who describe their approach as “always … instinctive, striving for that which is at the very heart of creative expression.” The aluminium sculptures have been intensely formed by hand, connecting with Dunhill’s aesthetic balancing hard metals with refined, luxury products.

As Creative Director Mark Weston explains, “Metal & engineering are house codes that I have always been drawn to and continue to develop as a means to expressing the design vocabulary of Dunhill. Materials, and honesty to materials shared central constant to both Dunhill and Fredrikson Stallard, their art has an energy and dynamism that it is instinctively compelling.”

Weston has been looking to the heritage of Dunhill to inspire his new direction after after succeeding John Ray in 2017. Working to reflect the brand’s roots in its contemporary vision has been key to Weston, explaining his decision to collaborate Fredrikson Stallard.
Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard began their creative partnership in 1995 and have become internationally recognised leading exponents of British avant-garde design.
Speaking about Dunhill Crush, the designers commented: “At the heart of our work is the freedom and expression of the performance of creation, the raw energy of instantaneous thought and feeling. The sculptural qualities of our works are born from the desires of instinct, reality, authenticity. The works have an urge to connect , both with their surroundings in terms of form and reflection, both inwards and outwards, and demand the immediate attention of an audience.”

The sculptures will launch in Dunhill flagship stores on November 12, 2018 and will remain throughout the festive season.
