Taiwan-born Jason Wu lived and studied in Canada, and is a fashion designer based in New York City. His career started out at 16-years old designing clothes for dolls for a toy company. He soon found himself creative director of Integrity toys.
“I have always found a woman’s body to be especially beautiful ever since taking my first life drawing class as a teenager. I was drawn to fashion design as it is my passion to create garments that enhance and flatter the female form,” he says.
Models passed through the stone archway onto the marble runway with natural make-up, strong brows and a masculine yet feminine vibe. Materials included lace, silk and velvet paired with simplistic black bags and heels detailed with either gold or silver. Colours included black, metallic silver, deep maroon, royal blue, grey and soft purple.
The collection had many powerful business yet special event friendly outfits. There were also extravagant evening gowns that held the standard of class and sophistication fit enough for clients such as First Lady Michelle Obama. Some pieces were more revealing with cut outs in the mid-section and deep plunging backs. Over-sized jackets complimented with silver rectangle buttons repeated on a few pieces in a quadrant arrangement.
