Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park loves London

The  Mandarin Oriental hotel, Hyde Park has launched a heartwarming initiative following the devastating fire that took place in June shortly after a multi-million pound renovation had been completed.

During its temporary closure, the hotel management has committed to retain all 600 staff until the property’s partial reopening this winter. It has transferred some of its staff to other Mandarin Oriental hotels, but most have been loaned to local charities through their FANtastic London programme. In total, around 40,000 working hours will be donated to a selection of London charities, local hospitals and the London Fire Brigade.

Amanda Hyndman, the hotel’s general manager commented: “We received so much support from the community that we wanted to thank everyone that has reached out to us since. Giving away working hours to the city that we love, was a simple way to express our gratitude to all. Our colleagues are loyal, talented and passionate individuals that want to share our expertise, but we also wanted to show that we care, and that we are even more united than ever before.”
