PFW HAUTE COUTURE AW18: Valentino

BIG hair don’t care. That must have been the thoughts going through the model’s minds, as they walked down the runway of Valentino AW18 couture show, on Wednesday evening. Models such as Kaia Gerber glided down the runway in extravagant creations, accompanied by extravagant hairdos, inspired by the 1960s. Pierpaolo Piccioli delivered a collection unlike any other, filled with every bold colour imaginable, from fuchsia, emerald green, powder pink and red.

The collection, which very obviously leaned in the direction of the fashion from the ‘60s, featured breathtaking pieces such an emerald paileté cape named after none other than Liza Minnelli. One of the show-stopping pieces was a hot red silk cady bustier dress, filled with ruffles, accompanied by a larger than life floral headpiece.

Kaia Gerber managed to steal the show, in a dress that was more art than clothing, the vision of a ‘60s dream, Kaia wore a baby powder pink dress, covered on layers of feathers, with a hair-do, almost as extravagant. Captivating would be an understatement, to sum up, this couture collection, the show deservingly ended with the audience rising up, giving their standing ovation, and with Mr Valentino shedding a tear from his first-row seat.
